Rosh ha shana cards

Homemade Rosh ha shana cards with bottles corks

During Rosh Hashanah, it is traditional to eat apples dipped in honey, to symbolize our hopes for a "sweet" new year. The apple is dipped in honey, the blessing for eating tree fruits is recited, the apple is tasted, and then the apples and honey prayer is recited.
Rosh HaShanah is the Jewish New Year and like most Jewish holidays there are food customs associated with it.  This sweet combination stems from an age-old Jewish tradition of eating sweet foods to express our hope for a sweet new year.

tisha b'Av

Tisha b'Av project.

Create this beautiful project using the agam art style of the Yerushalayim skyline on one side and the pasuk "Im eshkacheiech Yerushalayim" on the other side. This is a good project to create for the three weeks, nine days and the fast days remembering the destruction of the Bais Hamikdash.

We coloured a printed image of Jerusalem

then we drawned the flames on a glossy paper trasparent

 

Afterward we out the falmes on the Jerusalem image to represent the destruction of Jerusalem on Tisha b'AV.

parashah Mattot Masei

For Mattot Masei parashah we choose to do an open air project. 

The descendants of Reuven and Gad had an abundance of livestock very numerous and they saw the land of Jazer and the land of Gilead, and behold, the place was a place for livestock.

We took some plastic animal toy, a little tree, a fence and put them outside on real grass to represent the land est of the Yarden.

The tribes of Reuven and Gad (later joined by half of the tribe of Menashè) ask for the lands east of the Jordan as their portion in the Promised Land, these being prime pastureland for their cattle.

  

Then we built an house made of stones and wood sticks found on the place to make the tribes of Reuven and Gad buildings.

Moshè is initially angered by the request, but subsequently agrees on the condition that they first join, and lead, in Israel’s conquest of the lands west of the Jordan.

parashah Pinchas

G‑d spoke to Moshè, saying: “The daughters of Zelophehad speak rightly."

The daughters of Zelophehad son of Hepher.
The names of the daughters were Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah and Tirzah.

We made them with paper doll chain.

A petition was presented by the daughters of Zelophehad . . . And they stood before Moshè, Eleazar the priest, the princes and the entire community at the door of the Tent of Meeting, with the following petition:
“Our father died in the desert . . . without leaving any sons. Why should our father’s name be disadvantaged in his family merely because he had no son? Give to us a portion of land along with our father’s brothers.”

parashah Balak

A frightened king and a greedy prophet, a sword-wielding malach and a talking donkey.
A no sewed felt and foam donkey puppet to make Bilam donkey.
You need brown felt, brow and red foam paper, glue and a brow marker .

In the morning, Balaam saddled his donkey and departed with the dignitaries, but G.d was incensed at his going and placed an angel in Balaam’s way. (Bamidbar 22:21–22.) When the donkey saw the angel standing in the way holding his drawn sword, the donkey swerved from the road into the fields, and Balaam beat the ass to turn her back onto the road. The angel then stationed himself in a lane with a fence on either side.  Seeing the angel, the donkey pressed herself and Balaam’s foot against the wall, so he beat her again.  The angel then stationed himself on a narrow spot that allowed no room to swerve right or left, and the donkey lay down under Balaam, and Balaam became furious and beat the ass with his stick.  Then G.d allowed the donkey to speak, and she complained to Balaam.

 

parashah Chukat

 

Easy to make snakes from parashah Chukat. You just need some paper plates, markers and scissors.

 

Let the children color the paper plate after you draw a spiral, then cut following the spiral lines. 

The land was filled with poisonous snakes and people begin getting bit.  

Upon leaving Mount Hor to go around the land of Edom, the people grew impatient and another rebellion brewed. This time the people murmured not only against Moshè, but against the Lord Himself. Consequently, the Lord sent "serpents" (haNechashim haseraphim) that bit the people and many Israelites died. The people confessed their sin and appealed to Moshè for help, who then interceded on their behalf.
